What is Cowdenbeath Independent Supporters Society?

We are at the start of a journey and the Cowdenbeath Independent Supporters Society has been formed to bring together all those who have Cowdenbeath FC in their hearts. The aim is for us to take practical action by contributing and playing a fundamental part in ensuring that our club bounces back in a sustainable way. It is vital that off the field aspects of the club are not neglected. The goal is to build a solid future where the club can go forward with confidence. Cowdenbeath FC is our club, it is your club, the fans’ club, Fife’s oldest football club, the miners’ club, the community’s club. This is Fife’s football town – with its much-loved football club at its heart.

Cowdenbeath Independent Supporters Society is the official title of our organisation, CISS for short. It has been established by your fellow fans to give every single Cowdenbeath supporter an opportunity to become a member and thus to have real input into how the club is run. And ultimately to secure the long-term future of our club.

Club Chairman Donald Findlay, as majority shareholder, has already committed to transfer a tranche of shares to Cowdenbeath Independent Supporters Society. This initial shareholding will amount to 20% of the total shareholding. Over time the vision is that the CISS will secure ownership of the club via further share transfers – the club will then be owned and controlled by us - the supporters. Initially the CISS will also nominate two of its members to serve as Directors of the Football Club.

Our Objectives

  • Being the democratic and representative voice of the supporters of the Club and strengthening the bonds between the Club and the community

  • Achieving the greatest possible supporter and community influence in the running and ownership of the Club

  • Promoting responsible and constructive community engagement by present and future members of the communities served by the Club and encouraging the Club to do the same

  • Operating democratically, fairly, sustainably, transparently and with financial responsibility and encouraging the Club to do the same
